A short glimpse into some of the most important sites in the Negev, for Israel first-timers staying in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, or anyone else interested…

Itinerary:

We set course to the South – "Negev" in Ancient Hebrew. "Negev" also means "Dry" in Hebrew, and indeed, the more we move into the South, the dryer the landscape becomes, and the Desert stretches in front of our eyes…     Then we see that the desert is dotted by many green spots put there by the vision of Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion. We will visit his hut and grave, surrounded by a special Desert Garden, overlooking the majestic Zin Valley. Below Ben Gurion's Tomb lies the Oasis of Ein Avdat, a natural pearl full of water in the middle of the desert. After a short walk in the oasis we continue to Mitzpe Ramon, situated on the cliffs of the Ramon Crater, a unique Natural Phenomena, only to be found in the Negev Desert! We will visit some of its geological and historical highlights, such as the "Carpenter's Shop" (Prism Hill) and the ancient Caravanserai, part of the famous "Incense Road", where camels loaded with the expensive goods from the orient used to stop for the night. Then it's time to head back to civilization…
